Exhibition of Works by Russian Artists in Belgrade
10.11.2025

The exhibition “Constellation of Famous Russian Artists of the 19th and 20th Centuries from the Collection of Vladimir Pesic” was presented in the Serbian capital as part of the event “Days of Moscow in Belgrade”, giving visitors the opportunity to see works by Russian masters.

The collector of these works, Vladimir Pesic, stated that this exhibition is a unique opportunity to see original works by Russian classics outside Russia.

“The artists presented at the exhibition undoubtedly deserve attention. These are academicians of painting and recognized artists who acquired their education and artistic formation in an environment that was one of the most important artistic centers of Russia. Moscow was always renowned precisely for its schools and associations. A special role was played by the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture, as well as the Stroganov School, institutions in which the unique style of the Moscow art school was formed,” said Pesic.

Pesic added that, alongside the schools, artists’ associations were also highly active in Moscow’s cultural life, and that the most famous among them were the Peredvizhniki and the Union of Russian Artists, of which Stanislav Zhukovsky, one of the most important Russian landscape painters, was a member. His work “Stream” was displayed at the exhibition.

“It is also impossible not to mention the State Free Art Studios in Moscow, where Kazimir Malevich taught, and whose outstanding student Ivan Kudryashov is also represented,” he said.

The exhibition featured 36 paintings and eight icons, including works by Rima i Leonid Brailovsky, Stepan Kolesnikov, Adolf Charlemagne, Ivan Vinberg, Nikolai Kuznetsov, Boris Pastukhov, and many others.

“This unique constellation, which I managed to assemble over decades of diligent work, is not only testimony to the high level of Russian painting of the 19th and 20th centuries, but also a symbol of the spiritual connection between Serbia and Russia. The exhibition reminds us that art has always been a space for dialogue and cultural understanding, capable of connecting countries,” said Pesic.

Vladimir Pesic has been engaged in collecting for 36 years, and his collection contains more than 330 paintings and works of applied art by Russian and Serbian artists, as well as artists from other countries.

Works of art from Pesic’s collection have been exhibited at numerous exhibitions and at several prestigious antique salons in Moscow.
