“The glory of Russian painters: Vladimir Peshich exhibited his collection at the Antiques Salon in Moscow”

The 46th Russian Antiques Salon in Moscow, which is held with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, will be remembered as a proof that even the corona virus cannot prevent art lovers from coming and enjoying the beauty of paintings, icons and fine china. The stand on which Vladimir Peshich from Belgrade exhibited his collection of paintings gathered a large amount of visitors.

It is prestigious for an art collector to exhibit their collection at Gostiny Dvor, which is considered an elite exhibition hall and is located in the center of Moscow, near the Red Square and Kremlin.

This year’s salon (exhibition) of antiques is held from 21 to 25 April. Peshich family collection is involved in this Moscow event for the third time.  The organisers highly appreciate the Peshich family collection which is proved by the fact that the paintings are exhibited at the prestigious part of Gostiny Dvor.

Taking a part in this salon always makes me happy not only because it is prestigious, but also because I spent part of my childhood and student days in Moscow. Every year I exhibit paintings of famous Russian artists that I have never exhibited before. This time I exhibited paintings from the Peshich family collection with a theme Women in art. These are paintings from the 19th century until present day – stated for the newspaper Novosti Vladimir Peshich, son of the well-known journalist of the newspaper Politika, Dushan Peshich, a former correspondent from Moscow, Paris, London, USA.

At the Peshich family collection stand art lovers showed the most interest in the works of the famous Russian painter Nikolai Kuznetsov and his painting The Student, which he painted in 1927 in Serbia. His painting Lady with Blue Eyes also drew a lot of attention.

A lot of people enjoyed the painting Little Sisters, which was painted in impressionist style by Nikolai Petrovich Bogdanov. The painting of the artist Maria Rosenthal, who painted her daughters Annie and Gusti was also noticed. Those who are familiar and agree with the saying that the ideal woman should be a man’s best friend, housewife and a mistress, enjoyed the painting Striptease where Katya posed for her husband Mihailo Romadin – says Peshich.

Apart from art lovers, Peshich family collection’s stand was visited by Vladimir’s former school and student friends.

I came to Moscow as a child and visited many museums and exhibitions with my father. Thanks to him, I also met Soviet artists – says Peshich who lived in Moscow from 1983 to 1997, where he graduated from Faculty of Philology.

On the Old Arbat he went to school, which was attended by children of famous Russian politicians. It was there that once the famous Moscow artist Vasily Polenov painted the picture Moscow Courtyard.

At the time of Gorbachev’s perestroika, in 1988, the first auction of the famous auction house Sotheby’s was held in Moscow, and that event changed the destiny of Vladimir Peshich.

After that auction I took even more interest in works of art although I was always surrounded by paintings in my childhood home. My great-grandfather Andria started creating the family collection – Vladimir tells us.

He bought his first painting in 1989 in Moscow in a commission store. And later on, after visiting Sotheby’s auction of Russian paintings in London in 1990, he started searching and buying valuable paintings by famous Russian artists with great passion and love. In addition to paintings, he began collecting icons and unique antiques. Vladimir Peshich is a member of the International Confederation of Collectors, Antiques and Art Dealers of Russia and Former Soviet Republics and a member of the Serbian Association of Antiques.

Peshich participation in this years Moscow Antiques Salon shows that Serbs are people who love and appreciate Russian painters and artists. Many of these artists left Russia after the October Revolution and moved to Kingdom Yugoslavia. The destinies of Serbs and Russians strengthened the bond between two people.

Trip to Vrsac

This year Vladimir Peshich plans to exhibit his collection in Vrsac after the Moscow exhibition. The great Russian painter Nikolai Kuznetsov once lived in Vrsac, and the people of this town will surely be interested to see the works of that famous Russian master.
