Russian Painting Presented in France

21 May 2026

The exhibition “The Splendor of Russian Painting of the 19th–20th Centuries. Masterpieces from the Collection of Vladimir Pesic” has opened at the Russian Orthodox Spiritual and Cultural Center (ROSCC) in Paris.

“This unique project offers visitors the opportunity to engage directly with authentic works of Russian art in all their historical and artistic diversity. At a time when the international exhibition of works from Russian museum collections is restricted, this initiative takes on exceptional cultural significance. Acquaintance with the Vladimir Pesic Collection will allow viewers not only to appreciate Russia’s artistic heritage, but also to gain a deeper understanding of the character and destiny of Russia,” noted the Russian Ambassador to France, Alexey Meshkov.

A total of 18 works are on display, representing various movements in Russian art of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, including Realism, Impressionism, Post-Impressionism, Russian Art Nouveau, the Neo-Russian Style, Cubism, Socialist Realism, Expressionism, and others.

Visitors can see such works as “Shining Domes” by Grand Duchess Olga Romanova, “The Struggle of Ideologies” by Vladimir Tatlin, “Suprematist Composition” by Sergei Senkin, “Still Life with a View of St. Isaac’s Cathedral” by Vyacheslav Pakulin, the watercolor “Black Sea Landscape” by Pyotr Konchalovsky, and many other masterpieces.

By scanning the QR code displayed on the labels accompanying the artworks, visitors can access comprehensive information about each piece, including biographies of the artists.

The exhibition’s opening ceremony was attended by guests from more than ten countries. Among them were diplomats from Algeria, Honduras, China, Cuba, Lebanon, Malaysia, Palestine, Serbia, and Sri Lanka.

The owner of the collection and author of the project, Serbian collector Vladimir Pesic, stated that he is planning to organize a similar exhibition in Brussels in the near future, according to TASS.
