15:15, 18 May 2026

In celebration of its 10th anniversary, the Russian Orthodox Spiritual and Cultural Center in Paris is opening the exhibition “The Splendor of Russian Painting of the 19th–20th Centuries. Masterpieces from the Collection of Vladimir Pesic”, which will run from May 20 to June 30, 2026.

The exhibition in Paris, titled “The Splendor of Russian Painting of the 19th–20th Centuries. Masterpieces from the Collection of Vladimir Pesic”, is conceived as a visual journey through 150 years of Russian art history.

Thirty-seven years of experience in collecting, combined with the careful selection of works by Russian masters, have made Vladimir Pesic one of the most significant collectors of Russian art outside Russia. In both scale and concept, this collection of more than 330 paintings goes far beyond the scope of an ordinary private collection.

The exhibition will feature 18 works representing 12 movements in Russian art of the 19th and 20th centuries: Realism, Impressionism, Post-Impressionism, Russian Art Nouveau, the Neo-Russian style, Cubism, Cubo-Futurism, Suprematism, Constructivism, Socialist Realism, Nonconformism, and Expressionism.

In light of the 2022 decree of the Russian Ministry of Culture suspending the temporary export of museum objects from Russia, the collection provides a unique opportunity to present Russian art to the world.

The symbol of the exhibition will be “Shining Domes” (1920s), the most significant work by Grand Duchess Olga Romanova, sister of Russian Emperor Nicholas II.

The exhibition will open ceremonially on Wednesday, May 20, at 7:00 p.m. Visitor entry will begin at 6:00 p.m. Admission is free with prior registration.
