Exhibition of Russian Painting to Open in Paris

The project “The Splendor of Russian Painting of the 19th–20th Centuries” will launch in Paris.

An exhibition titled “The Splendor of Russian Painting of the 19th–20th Centuries. Masterpieces from the Collection of Vladimir Pesic” will open in Russia, Serbian collector Vladimir Pesic told TASS.

The exhibition project will begin on May 20 at the Russian Orthodox Spiritual and Cultural Center. It will feature 18 works representing 12 movements of Russian art — from 19th-century realism to Soviet nonconformism of the 1980s.

The symbol of the exhibition will be “Shining Domes” by Princess Olga Romanova, sister of Russian Emperor Nicholas II. Visitors will also be able to see “Struggle of Ideologies” by Vladimir Tatlin, “Suprematist Composition” by Sergei Senkin, “Still Life with a View of St. Isaac’s Cathedral” by Vyacheslav Pakulin, “Portrait of a Girl” by Mikhail Yakovlev, “Self-Portrait” by Sergei Malyutin, as well as “Blooming Garden” and “Summer Flowers in the Park” by Nikolai Bogdanov-Belsky.

“Splendor is, above all, the emotion that a painting evokes in the viewer, and then, of course, the level of its execution. One could also say that splendor is grandeur and breadth — the breadth of the Russian soul,” Pesic shared.

The collector added that he will also organize an exhibition at the Russian House in Brussels in November.
