RIA Novosti. The exhibition „The brilliance of Russian painters” with paintings from the family collection of the Serbian collector Vladimir Peshich, was opened on Saturday in the city of Vrsac in northeastern Serbia – mention for RIA Novosti Alexander Konanykhin, cultural attaché of the Russian Embassy in Belgrade.

The exhibition in the City Museum Vrsac presents over 40 paintings from the Peshich family collection, which has been formed since the beginning of the 20th century. The collection consist of paintings, primarily by Russian and foreign artists, works of applied art, icons, and unique ivory antiques. Among the authors of the presented paintings are Nikolai Kuznetsov, Ippolit Maykovsky, Stepan Kolesnikov, Pyotr Sokolov, Nikolai Kharitonov, Konstantin Kuznetsov, Alexander Lazhechnikov, Vladimir Zelinsky and Nikolai Krivoshein.

„For the last three years, I have not seen anything like this in terms of art exhibitions in Serbia. Along with Russian icons from the XVIII and XIX centuries, we can see the works of Russian artists who lived and painted here between the First and Second World Wars. We consider this exhibition as another event in a series of events, which were organized in honor of the 100th anniversary of Russian emigrants coming in Serbia“– said Konanykhin and pointed out that the exhibition was entirely Serbian initiative.

„We start this year with such a powerful cultural event that sets the bar high. And this is directly related to Russian-Serbian relations“, added the Russian diplomat, noting the high level of event organization with participation of local authorities.

The father of the owner of this collection, Dusan Peshich, was a correspondent of the newspaper “Politika” in Soviet Union and later in Russia. His son lived with him in Moscow from 1983 to 1997, where he finished not only high school, but also the Faculty of Foreign Languages.

Vladimir Pesich participated in several prestigious antique salons and exhibitions in Europe and Russia, including the 46th Russian Antiques salon in April 2021, in Gostiny Dvor. He is a member of The International Confederation of Collectors, Antique & Art Dealers of Russia and the Commonwealth of Independent States and some other associations as well.
