The Collection of Vladimir Peshich

The private collection of Vladimir Peshich is carefully preserved, long-established, and part of a family tradition. The majority of the collection consists of works by Russian artists, including painters who came to Serbia after the October Revolution.

With the exhibition at the City Museum in Vrcac, the public was introduced for the first time to the works of Russian painters who came to these regions after 1918, where they stayed to live and work. The exhibition featured paintings by Stepan Feodorovich Kolesnikov and Nikolai Dmitrievich Kuznetsov.

The son of Dusan Peshich, a longtime correspondent for “Politika” from Moscow, Vladimir spent his childhood in the Soviet Union, where he also received his education. From an early age, he encountered artists in Moscow, visited museums, and developed a love for art.

Aware of the value of Russian painting and art, Vladimir bought his first painting at a Moscow commission store. The family collection expanded during the time of Gorbachev and perestroika when Vladimir Peshich attended a significant painting auction held by the renowned auction house “Sotheby’s” in Moscow in 1988, emphasizing the importance and value of Russian artists. The brilliance of Russian painters was complemented by icons created by Russian artists in the late 19th and 20th centuries. His private collection also includes antique ivory items.

The paintings he collected in his collection were exhibited at many exhibitions and in several antique salons in Moscow. His authority in authenticity assessments is respected, and organizers displayed paintings from this collection even in the prestigious part of “Gostiny Dvor” near Red Square in Moscow.
