Marten Dmitry Emilievich
1860–1918
Painter, graphic artist.
Born into a family of merchants. In 1885–1889, he was studding at the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture, as a volunteer. Lived in Moscow.
He worked mainly as a landscape painter, continuing in his work the traditions of the Russian landscape school of the second half of 19th century. More than once, he traveled to the North and Central Russia. He participated in exhibitions of the Moscow Society of Art Lovers (1891–1910, member of society from 1893), Moscow Association of Artists (1899–1900), exhibitions of Peredvizhniki (1900–1917, intermittently), Spring exhibition in the halls of the Imperial Academy of Art (1902–1917, intermittently), the Moscow Society of Artists «Zveno» and others as well.
He was a professor at the Art school of Vologda.
His art is part of many museum collections, including the one of State Tretyakov Gallery.
