VASILIEV ALEXEY ALEXANDROVICH

1901 Rzhev – 1991 Belgrade

In 1920, he arrived by sea in Croatian Dubrovnik, and from there he left for Belgrade, “promised city” for many people. This was followed by studies at art school, at the architectural department of the Technical faculty of the University in Belgrade. Already in 1922, Vasiliev was a participant in the first exhibition of Russian artists. He worked with architect Grigory Samoilov.

From 1936 to 1941, A. A. Vasiliev worked at the Military Museum: he was an architect, an artist and a master of artistic photography. He was engaged in making replicas of Serbian uniforms and bearings, including the bearings of General Mikhail Grigorievich Chernyayev.

From 1941, he worked at the Museum of Belgrade. He participated in many exhibitions. In June 1943, he participated in a group exhibition of Russian artists in Belgrade. In the collection of the Military Museum, there are 22 paintings of his.
